Bug Bug, Bali

Balinese recognize three distinct waves of immigration to the island. The oldest is the Bali Mula, which includes the people of Bug Bug who continue to practice traditional animism.Bali Mula social organisation is rather similar to that of Taiwanese indigenous people, shedding light on the historical process of cultural dispersion of the Austronesian peoples.

The second wave, the Bala Aga, practiced the Shiva Buddha tradition of the Majapahit Empire, as well as focusing on particular Hindu gods. The Bali Aga of nearby Tenganang village is an example of the people from this second wave who still pracrtice the traditional ways from that time.

The third wave includes the majority of Balinese, who follow the Tri Hata Karana tradition

The Original Gong Gede, a type of Gamelan orchestra came from Bug Bug. Gamelan gong gede, meaning gamelan with the large gongs", is a form of the ceremonial gamelan music of Bali, dating from the court society of the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries
