Wadu Pa’a

In the Eastern part of Sumbawa is a site named Wadu Pa,’a  which on the cliff side are carved in the stone other Hindu and Buddhist reliefs. The cliff carvings at Wadu Pa’a in Sumbawa, Indonesia, are believed to have been made around the 10th to 11th century AD.

It is hard to imagine how difficult times must have been then for the monks to travel here at that time and then settle in the area.

These people were most likely sea gypsies before settling on the land
