Traditional Gamelan Instrument Making in Bali
Blog post and photography by Peter Hemenway
Balinese can be seen practicing and playing gamelon in many parts of Bali and it is the most popular form of traditional music in Indonesia.
It seems to have been around at least since the 8th Century and most likely much before this.
The tone is referred to as Pelog and is a seven-note scale with a series of unequal intervals. Generally it uses a five note mode.
