Samut Songkhram Province in Thailand is among the largest seafood processing industrial areas in the entire country. It is also among the top four coastal provinces in Thailand in attracting migrant workers, primarily from Myanmar. Proportion of local population and migrant workers at a ratio of 2:1. Included in these figures is an estimated number of 100,000 illegal migrant workers.
