Kusumba Village, Bali

Kusamba Village is known as a traditional fishing village located in the eastern part of Bali.

Salt making from Kusumba is produced traditionally by the local people.

In the past, there were a lot of salt farmers operating along the coastline of Bali but now only a few remain.

Sea water is evaporated to produce a high quality salt

A workers bring fish to the salting area

After the fish has been treated with salt it is put into boiling water

Besides salting fish there is facilities for storing fish with ice

A woman is in charge of selling bamboo baskets used in the fish industry

Fish arrives to be salted from many areas in Bali
