Automatic Plant Waterer

This hollow glass ball contraption is places inside a porcelain holder which in turn is places in the soil of a potted plant.

The ball is filled with water which is diffused slowly through the porcelain holder.

The ball an porcelain act as an automatic watering deice . It takes about 1 week to use up the water in the ball and then the ball is refilled.

To make and shape the ball, glass is blown using standard glass blowing techniques. 

A gas welder that is fitted with oxygen and propane is used for shaping the nipple area of the ball. 

Afterwards the completed product is places in a cooling over that is 900 degrees F. for about 30 hours. If it was allowed to air dry the glass would explode as it would cool down too quickly.
